ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Individuals: Current USATF membership is required to compete; www.usatf.org. In order to register, you must also have qualified through your Association championship.

Teams: Only registered USATF member clubs may enter a team. All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with that club as part of their USATF membership and the team must have qualified through the Association Championship. Only athletes listed on the club roster prior to the Association Championship entry cutoff date will be eligible to represent the club at the Association, Regional or National championships.


 

ENTRY PROCESS & ENTRY DEADLINE:

Registration opens Sunday, November 4, 2018, and MUST be completed, including payment, by noon, Wednesday, November 14, 2018, for both teams and unattached athletes. ONLY ONLINE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED, and payment must be made online at the time registration is finalized. Register online through www.athletic.net; (Event#145890) select the date of the race and then event.

NO late registration!!!

 

FEES & PAYMENTS:

Individual Fees: $15.00 per athlete.

Team Fees: No charge. All payments are due online at the time of registration.

 

BIB NUMBER & PACKET PICK-UP:

All competitors must wear their assigned bib numbers during competition chest- high on the front of their jerseys. Packet pick-up will be at the host hotel: Hampton Inn and Suites, 2000 N. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, Arizona from 5:00-8:00pm, Friday, November 16, 2018, and at the meet site from 8:00 am to 12:30pm on Saturday morning.  There will be a $10.00 charge for lost bibs.

 

TEAM SCORING: To obtain a Youth team score, a team must have at least 5 athletes in the same gender and age group. You may enter up to 8 athletes on the team entry/declaration as scoring athletes. You may enter multiple teams in the same gender and age group provided each team has 5 to 8 athletes. The top 5 finishers among the declared "team” will score but all finishers on the declared team will receive a score.

 

STARTING BOX’S: Starting boxes will be drawn for by the youth chair of each association or their representative at the coaches meeting. Boxes will be rotated one box to the left in every race. Youth chairs from each association will decide how to utilize their starting boxes. If the youth chair is not present for the coaches meeting (held at packet pick up location) from 7:00-8:00pm, it is their responsibility to assign an alternate who will be able to draw for their respective box and assign the starting positions for their association on their behalf.

 

EVENT RESULTS & PROTESTS: Protests must be made in writing in accordance with Rule 146 and must be accompanied by a $100 cash deposit which will be forfeited unless the protest is upheld. In addition, event results will be posted at www.athletic.net by midnight Sunday, November 18, 2018.

 

AWARDS: USATF Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to the top 30 individuals in each age division/gender.  Team medals will be awarded to members of the top five teams in each youth age division/gender respective category.  Awards will be presented once race results are posted as official.

 

JO REGION 10 ADVANCEMENTS TO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:

The Junior Olympics National Championships will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 in Reno, Nevada.

The top 30 athletes and top 5 teams at the Region 10 Championships will qualify for the National Championships.

Information is available at http://www.2018joxc.com. Also, athletes must be at least 7 years old on December 31, 2018, and 18 or younger on December 31, 2018, to be eligible for the National Championships.

There will be no automatic advancements for high school athletes. High school athletes must enter, compete, and finish in accordance with the requirements noted above.

All advancements/entry for the USATF Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships must be submitted online at www.athletic.net. Select the date of the race & site, and follow the instructions.

 

FACILITY CONSIDERATIONS: Estrella Mountain Regional Park is a Maricopa County Park.  All park rules will be in effect.  The full list of rules can be found online at: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/park-locator/mcdowell-mountain-regional-park/park-information/park-rules-and-hours-of-operation/

There is a $7 fee to enter the park for all vehicles.  This is a Maricopa County fee and is NOT included with race registration.  All pets must be on a leash 6 foot or less in length.  The course will be open for self-guided walk-through from 4:00pm- 7:00pm, Friday, November 16, and from 7:00am-8:30am, Saturday, November 17.
